Apex Mining Company, Inc. (APX) was incorporated on February 26, 1970, primarily to carry on the business of mining, milling, concentrating, converting, smelting, treating, preparing for market, manufacturing, buying, selling, exchanging and otherwise producing and dealing in gold, silver, copper, lead, zinc, brass, iron, steel, and all kinds of ores, metals, and minerals.
In October 2014, APX acquired 100% ownership of Monte Oro Resources & Energy, Inc. (MOREI), while Prime Strategic Holdings, Inc. and other MOREI shareholders used the proceeds from the sale of their shares in MOREI to subscribe to new APX shares and, in the process, acquire control of APX, diluting the shareholdings of Mindanao Gold Ltd. and Mapula Creek Gold Corporation to a small minority.
APX operates the Maco Mines in Maco, Davao de Oro, where it produces gold and silver bullions and buttons. The Company has three wholly-owned subsidiaries: Itogon-Suyoc Resources, Inc. (ISRI), MOREI, and Asia Alliance Mining Resources Corporation. ISRI holds the mineral rights to the Sangilo and Suyoc mines in Itogon, Benguet. All production from the Maco and Sangilo mines is sold to Heraeus Ltd., a refining company based in Hong Kong.
